Start by blending the fruit first with ½ to ⅔ of the water to make a base, then add the greens and blend up until smooth. Use the ratio of about 50% fruits to 50% veggies and you can vary that to taste. It has to taste good for you and the kids or what’s the use right?

Apple Banana Healthy Green Smoothie Recipes

1 medium to large apple peeled and seeded.
(Leave peel and seeds if using 3hp blender)


 Try a handful of grapes, a few guavas or a pear and they’ve all been good.
 to ½ a small bunch of spinach, leaf, stalk and all.

½ glasses of water.

Blend the fruit with some of the water first to make the base.
Then tear up the spinach and fit it in till it all blends adding water until you have the consistency you desire. And there you have it, a delicious green power smoothie for aiding weight loss!


The Papaya Pear Green Smoothie Delight

1 large or two smaller ripe pears
 small to medium ripe papaya (slice in half, seed then scoop flesh)

4 good sized leaves of romaine lettuce
- small bunches of Spinach (2-3 handfuls if you buy bulk leaves)
½ glasses of water.

Blend fruit in your trusty Vitamix blender and 2/3 the water until smooth.

Tear up the greens and fit them into your blender with the rest of the water.
​Blend up good until leafy pieces are gone and enjoy your creamy green papaya delight.

When oxalates eaten together with calcium or iron, the oxalate binds to the nutrients in the intestines. As a result, the calcium and iron cannot be absorbed into the bloodstream.

Spinach is one of the only foods that contains all three substances. Unfortunately, most of this calcium and iron in spinach remain unabsorbed due to the oxalate.

When eating spinach, add a dose of vitamin C to your meal. Vitamin C blocks the oxalate from binding to the calcium, therefore encouraging calcium and iron absorption into the bloodstream.

​The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends eating spinach with tomatoes, citrus fruits or orange juice.

Dark green leafy greens and cruciferous veggies can be powerfully healthy, and they contain a boatload of antioxidants like beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin and other fantastically healthy phytochemicals as well.

They can help fight cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.

These veggies also boost immunity by lowering inflammatory responses, reduce cell damage, and aid in digestive health too.  
 
What we need to do: 


  • We need to eat all plant based foods in moderation. 
  • Use organic vegetables to reduce amount of toxic metals such as thallium. (Conventional grown spinach and kale both contain high amounts of pesticide residue) 
  • Juicing and liquid food should be used for times breakfast, illness, fasting, and detoxifying
  • Chew food/liquids to mix saliva to help in the digestion giving the body more energy, minimizing gas, sickness and even helping gain muscle. 
  • Rotate the green leafy vegetable ingredients with high oxalate content. 
 
Oxalate content shows Kale (chopped) has only 2 mg of Oxalate for 1 cup and Spinach with 656 mg for ½ cup. 

*Diets high in animal foods turn kidneys to stone because the body needs lots of calcium
to process the high levels of animal protein (plant protein doesn't do this). It robs
calcium from our bones and causes kidney stones.

Our kidneys can’t handle that much calcium. Vegetarians don’t have that problem.
 
*By eating Parsley will help move out moderately sized kidney stones and gallstones. 
 
*Also Chanca Piedra - a South American herb who’s name literally translates to “Stone Breaker” which dissolves gall and kidney stones ! Now all you have to so is help wash them out with
enemas or colonics.
 
*Romaine Lettuce is very low in oxalates and a good source of vitamin A, and sort of for folate and vitamin C. It has several amino acids too. 

*Quinoa is considered a whole grain. It is the seed of a leafy plant related to spinach.
 
Although most plant-based foods do not contain complete proteins containing all of the essential amino acids, quinoa is a complete protein. This makes quinoa a particularly beneficial food for those who do not eat animal products.
 
* A lot of people that don’t digest leafy greens well at all are better better with cooked veggies and roots like carrots, beets, and sweet potatoes.

Certain types of beneficial bacteria in the gut actually help to break down and process oxalates in food. Supplementing with probiotics and fermented foods that contain Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium animalis will help to break down and prevent oxalate buildup in the body.

Many things block iron from absorbing. Calcium in foods for example will block the absorption of iron as will oxalates (kale, spinach, etc) and phytates in foods. That's why contrary to popular belief, spinach is not a good source of iron.

The oxalic acid in spinach binds a lot of the iron rendering it unusable. Ascorbic Acid, that cheap white powder isolate made in a lab they call vitamin C blocks iron absorption. Herbal vitamin C on the other hand will increase iron absorption and help anemia, so take some herbal vitamin C with your meals.

Acids found in some foods also enhance the absorption of various minerals. Also stay away from coffee or tea with meals as the tannins in these drinks will block iron absorption. Acids like apple cider vinegar help digestion and absorption.  
 
Older people usually actually have too much iron because their body can't get of it efficiently anymore. Excess iron is a problem for the body since it can feed certain bacteria and promote oxidative damage, plus cause constipation. Men in particular and women after menopause are at the highest risk since the body will have no efficient way to rid itself of the excess iron. 
 
Another cause is parasites (parasites LOVE iron!) and yeast that's turned into fungus from gluten (wheat and flour products) sugar, bread etc, and punctured the intestinal walls causing leaky gut, ulcerative colitis, crown's and irritable bowel (IBS). 

But for most people, the most likely cause is low stomach acid, which is needed for absorption of minerals and vitamins. Stomach acid decreases with age starting at age 40 and gets lower with age.

So what has iron in it? Lots of things. Almost all fruits, greens, nuts (walnuts, pistachio, coconut, brazil nuts) and vegetables. Even onions and garlic have iron. Of course there’s beet roots, but did you know sea vegetables, like sea moss have 10 times more iron than spinach and it’s highly absorbable.

Many herbs are a good source of natural plant-based iron. Nettle leaf for example, is a good source of non-constipating iron, along with alfalfa, dandelion, burdock, yellow dock, watercress….those are all in my green formula, which is my personal multivitamin, multi mineral. Again, you don’t have to buy my green formula, get your own plants, for example, just eat a bunch of dandelion greens or nettles.

The Power of Spirulina and Broccoli

Spirulina or blue-green algae is a rich source of nutrients, containing up to 70% high quality protein (all eight amino acids in balanced amounts, as well as high amounts of non-essential amino acids), B complex vitamins, gamma-linolenic acid, carotenoids, iron and numerous other minerals.

Spirulina improves immunity by stimulating antibody production and increasing the number of disease-fighting cells such as natural killer cells. It is also shown to help regulate fat and carbohydrate metabolism. Research suggests that spirulina may help:

Regulate blood glucose and lipid levels in diabetes
Inhibit the development of cancer
Prevent viral infections and suppress viral load (including herpes, influenza virus and HIV)
Detoxify the liver and kidneys (Khan, et al.)  

1. Broccoli soothes adrenal stress.

The walnut-sized adrenal glands sit atop the kidneys and are responsible for regulating the body’s stress response by producing an array of hormones, including cortisol. Two recent studies revealed that vitamin C supports adrenal health by speeding up recovery following emotional and physical stress. 


The first study followed marathon runners and found that their cortisol levels dropped back to normal faster if they consumed vitamin C before, during and after a race. 

A second study, published in Psychopharmacology, found that people taking vitamin C felt more relaxed in high-stress situations, and their cortisol levels returned to normal more quickly. Because the overproduction of cortisol leads to adrenal fatigue, and eventually exhaustion if allowed to continue, it’s helpful to nourish your adrenal glands by eating broccoli.

People with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and adrenal fatigue can benefit from eating more broccoli and other cruciferous veggies like cabbage and kale. Broccoli is chock full of vitamin C, which supports your hard-working adrenal glands when they are under stress,  as well as natural fiber, which helps stabilize blood sugar

2. Chromium in broccoli boosts energy.

The trace mineral chromium is used by the body to manufacture glucose tolerance factor (GTF), which helps break down blood sugar. Chromium aids in the metabolism of glucose by improving the sensitivity of the insulin receptors on the surface of every cell, thereby reducing insulin resistance. Steady blood sugar means not only steady energy but also a respite for your adrenal glands from responding to spiking glucose from high-glycemic-index (GI) simple carbohydrates, which also deplete chromium.

3. Fiber fights fatigue.

Broccoli is loaded with dietary fiber, the roughage that makes you feel full and satisfied without gaining weight. Foods that are high in fiber help slow the metabolism of glucose, control blood sugar levels and reduce adrenal damage. High-fiber foods such as broccoli also support weight loss. A reduction in body fat, especially around the midriff, an area that attracts stress weight from high levels of cortisol, helps in lowering insulin resistance and improving blood sugar metabolism.

When selecting broccoli, choose stalks with the darkest color, because that means it has the most beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is a strong antioxidant that fights free radicals and boost the immune system. Eat broccoli raw (if your digestion can support it) or lightly cooked, and don’t forget the stems and leaves. The stems are not only sweet and mild-flavored, they’re much higher in fiber than the broccoli florets, and the leaves are the richest source of beta-carotene. Other members of broccoli’s cruciferous family include cabbage, kale, radish, chard, Brussel’s sprouts, bok choy and more.

​The Green Smoothie Prescription

For this book, I looked through the particular remedial properties of different fruits, vegetables and greens and created a compilation of 150 recipes that may help with different conditions. The medicinal properties of plants are very mild and don’t create any side effects. Of course, drinking green smoothies cannot substitute for your doctor’s visits, but these blends might become a great aid in your healing process.

These recipes are made of the ingredients that are sold in supermarkets, health stores, and farmers markets and therefore will be easy to find. Some of the recipes include wild edible plants, which you could learn to pick in the wilderness.

The fact that these recipes have a specific condition tied with their names doesn’t mean that you have to only consume the ones that strictly relate to you. Anyone can consume any of these mixes and benefit greatly from them. For example, cherries contain high levels of melatonin, which helps regulate sleep-and-wake cycles. Everybody would benefit from consuming cherries, particularly a person with sleep a disorder.

Another example is young coconut. A recent study has demonstrated that a diet rich in coconut oil protects against ‘insulin resistance’ in muscle and fat, therefore helping to reverse type 2 diabetes. I have added coconut to the smoothies for diabetes, but of course, anyone would become healthier by drinking such a smoothie.

Do you eat enough greens? If you don’t know, I have more questions for you. 
Do you have hiccups regularly? 
Do you sigh a lot? 
Do you have painful knots in your back? 
Is your vision blurry? 
Do you experience eye-twitching or leg cramps? 
Do you have lots of wrinkles? 
Do you crave chocolate all the time? 
Do you have migraines? 
If you answer yes to any of these questions, you’re probably not eating enough greens.

Dark leafy greens contain an astonishing abundance of nutrients that are vital to good health. However, since the beginning of the industrial revolution two hundred years ago, the diet of people in the Western world has undergone a dramatic change: they almost completely stopped consuming fresh greens, along with the proper amount of fresh fruits and vegetables, and added lots of refined and canned products. Processed foods not only lack important nutrients, but also contain preservatives and many other chemicals harmful to health.

As we continue to consume a lot of processed foods, the condition of our health keeps worsening. Astonishingly, 133 million Americans—almost 1 out of every 2 adults—have at least one chronic illness. Seventy percent of Americans take prescription drugs and more than 35 percent of the American people are obese. Based on available statistics, the number of totally healthy people in America seems to be rather small—despite the fact that the United States spends over $3 trillion a year on health care.

How can we return our health to its natural state? Could adding leafy green vegetables aid?

Exactly ten years ago, in August 2004, I created the very first green smoothie. This amazing green mix allowed first my family and then many more people to consume a substantial amount of greens in the most palatable way. Thousands of people witnessed a wonderful healing effect from it right away.

Since then I dedicated my life to research and gathering information on the benefits of greens. Based on the newest research, I have written two new books that are soon to be released:
